Partnership Training Summit
January 13, 2025 - January 15, 2025
This event is limited to state employees only.
The Multistate Tax Commission is holding an interactive partnership training summit for state attendees. This event will include presentations on partnership taxation and involve participants in exercises and discussions about important challenges that partnership taxation poses for states. The goal is to develop training expertise and materials for states to use which will help inform policy and administration. The take-aways for the attendees will be designed for use in training others within your organizations on the essentials of partnership taxation.
Topics will include:
- the nature of partnerships,
- how the law treats partners and partnerships,
- the federal pass-through system and why it’s so complicated,
- the role of the attribution principle in the taxation of partnership activities and income,
- how state tax concepts such as the unitary business principle apply to partnership taxation,
- the role of private equity and taxation of investment partnerships,
- sales of partnership interests, and
- information reporting systems and processes and enforcement tools.
We are developing a more detailed list of topics which we will send out shortly and make available on request. If you have comments on the topics you would like to see covered, please contact Chris Barber.
